A dishwasher that leaves water at the bottom may have a clogged filter, blocked drain hose, disposal connection or a problem with its pump. Start with the manufacturer's directions for checking the removable filter, and turn off power before handling anything that could expose wiring or moving parts. If a new disposal was installed, mention that to the person troubleshooting because its dishwasher connection matters. Avoid pouring drain cleaner into the machine. If the kitchen sink also backs up, the problem may be in the shared drain rather than the dishwasher itself. VIP can evaluate the household drain; an appliance technician may be needed for internal dishwasher repairs.
